Inspired by the film Missing New Orleans with Louis Armstrong and Billie Holliday. I did not try to capture the likeness but did more of a figurative representation.
My goal was to capture the bluesy soulfulness, of New Orleans. You can just feel the humid smokey atmosphere embraced by heartfelt music. The lyrics being played say it all. Just take a listen to “Missing New Orleans"

Street musicians and swing dancers performing in the French Quarter of New Orleans, a scene near and dear to my heart, having grown up in Louisiana.
Music, dance, the festive vibe that is New Orleans. To capture the movement of dance, the interactions of the musicians, to feel the sound that is jazz.

Pre-Covid 2020 this scene was captured while attending the National College Football Championship game between my beloved LSU tigers and the
Clemson tigers. LSU colors are purple and gold, Clemson is orange. I wanted to show the sense of fun and comradery of the event, a feeling that’s always present in New Orleans.
The guys in the foreground are sporting their team colors and despite the rivalry they are embracing and sharing their love of the sport. This is a scene I hope returns soon because it just wouldn’t be New Orleans without people coming together to have a good time!
